Audio Visual Units (or units or cabinets for your TV, DVD, flatscreen television or whatever you prefer to call them).   Yes, we can definitely custom make one to your own specifications.  We dont generally have one of these cabinets/units on display in Great Southern Gallery (although we handcraft lots), for the simple reason that it is one of those items of furniture that can be designed and built especially to suit your own particular space, needs and size of equipment you want it to house.

If you can provide us with the measurements of what you would like to fit it too, as well as the space of the wall area where it will go, we will be happy to design and custom make your own Unit especially for you and can use different timbers (including jarrah, marri and many others).

Our cabinet makers (Soren and Bjarne Nielsen) can draw you up a sketch of what you want, or do a design for you, and provide you with a quote.  All the timber furniture is made right on site at Great Southern Gallery.  You can come and have a look at the piece as it progresses.
We do lots of different timbers (some of which are jarrah, marri, sheoak, tasmanian oak, blackwood and so many more).  We do solid timber, single slab solid timber as well as veneer.  Sometimes you may like a combination of timbers, and we can do that.

We have been notified by Western Power that this coming Sunday 25 November, they will be doing 'routine maintenance' work in our area and will be turning the power off between the hours of 9am and 3pm.  We are not able to open without electricity, so will have to close this Sunday 25 November.  (We don't know for how long the power will be off for, so if it comes back on before 3pm, we will open up).  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Soren and Bjarne have been very busy just finishing handcrafting a lovely clock, barometer, thermometer with natural rough edged jarrah timber.  Looks really lovely and very individual.  One of the great things of having a rough edged timber is that you dont get two exactly the same (all a bit differently shaped and contoured).

Also just finished are two fantastic hand-turned and handcrafted jarrah pedestals.  Reputed to be jarrah from the old woolsheds in Fremantle these really do have a bit of history.   Handturned differently, one is more of a traditional column and one is more of the rounded 'ball' shapes.  Great for that special present or keep for yourself!

We have a new range of handcrafted quality timber platters in the shapes of fish (eg trout) and other boards, handcrafted from Australian Sassafras (blackheart sassafras, so a lovely mix of dark and light timbers).  Also incorporates Australian made pewter for the head and tail decorations.  These platter boards are perfect for serving delicious foods and light enough for mailing as a gift to someone.

Jarrah boards are always popular and we have some lovely small ones, just perfect for the cheese and biscuits, that come complete with a cheese knife.  Great gift ideas.
