A little bit of history........
Soren was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and came to Australia at the age of five, with his parents, Erik and Inge.After school, Soren began his Apprenticeship as a cabinet-maker to his father Erik (a master cabinet-maker). Together Erik and Soren designed and handcrafted fine pieces of furniture for the cabinet-making business ‘Erik of Denmark’ which Erik established in Perth in 1972 (and which is still going strong today).

 

Sadly, Erik is no longer with us, but we are very proud that a third generation of our family, our son Bjarne, is now a fully qualified cabinet-maker (having completed his Apprenticeship to his father, Soren).

 

We can design and handcraft virtually any piece of furniture you need. Everything from bedroom, lounge, dining room, theatre room furniture, plus kitchens, can be designed and made to your own specifications. All the fine timber furniture in Great Southern Gallery is handcrafted by cabinet-maker Soren Nielsen. There is a selection of furniture always available, but if you would like a particular piece of furniture – we can create that special piece you are looking for. Everything from bedside tables, beds, dressing-tables, to dining tables, buffet’s, Visual Audio Units, Wall Units, occasional tables – all different sizes, timbers and shapes. We also have a stunning range of handcrafted, individually created mirrors and can make one especially for you.
